“I don’t like him.

“He’s someone who attacked Islam.

“When I heard he survived I was surprised.”

Matar, in jail accused of attempted murder, spoke on video to the New York Post.

Cops suspect he acted on a 1989 ruling from Iran’s religious leader over Rushdie’s “blasphemous” Satanic Verses book.

He is off a ventilator since being stabbed last Friday in New York state.

Pal Henry Reese was hosting the literary event where Rushdie, 75, was knifed on stage.

He suffered a damaged eyeball struggling with the knifeman.

The free speech campaigner reckoned: “To see Salman Rushdie assaulted is unimaginable.”
